It stopped mattering how much was at stake on sales calls with potential clients. Whether I was pitching services for $1,500 or $15,000 or $150,000, the number of zeroes at the end stopped making a difference. After hitting a wall with so many consecutive calls yielding zero results, my enthusiasm for scheduling them dwindled.
I know, I’m a terrible business owner for saying this. Business is sales, after all. Right?
We’re supposed to have an indefatigable drive to keep going, persevere, take every no as being one step closer to a yes.
Which brings me back to the B2B IP-licensing mastermind invitation awaiting a yes-or-no, in-or-out reply.
It had been burning a hole in my inbox for seven days.
Each day, I returned to the pinball machine of my mind, looking for new angles to consider as I debated participating in this newly forming group. Down the ball traveled—through the maze of spinners, scoops, slingshots, and bumpers—increasing speed with every twist and turn.
